A new „Emerald“ is born...
A new and distinct variety of Euonymus fortunei, which was discovered by me as a sport of the variety known as „Emerald Gaiety“ growing in my garden. The selected and patented „Emerald-Euonymus“ like 'Emerald Gaiety' (1960) and 'Emerald 'n' Gold' (1963) by the Corliss Brothers (Nursery in Ipswich), has become an industry-favorite and standard for garden and landscape architects all over the world.
You could call them ground cover legends!
While my new variety possesses many of the good qualities of its parent and beyound, it is outstandingly different because of the unique lime centre variegations on its dark green leaves with also bright lime-white leaf veins. The leaves are smaller than 'Emerald Gaiety' and consistently ovate. The color of the stems or branchlets are lime to olive green. Cuttings have the same characterics as the orginal sport.
